What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files that a website can store in your browser, typically used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, or measure how a site is used. “Similar technologies” refers to comparable mechanisms such as local storage.

What InfraLex Currently Uses

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are needed for the website to work as described. They are not used for analytics or advertising.

If you register for or sign in to an InfraLex Member account, the Service sets a strictly necessary authentication cookie so it can recognize you as signed in as you move between pages. This cookie is issued only when you sign in and is required for account-based features (such as saved items and plan-specific access) to work; it is not set for, and has no effect on, visitors browsing the public website without an account.

InfraLex’s content-management system, which InfraLex personnel use to log in and maintain the website’s content, separately uses its own strictly necessary authentication cookie to keep an administrator signed in. This is a distinct cookie from the Member authentication cookie described above, issued only when someone logs into InfraLex’s administrative system; it is not set for, and does not affect, ordinary visitors or Members.

When you make a choice in the cookie banner, InfraLex sets a cookie preference cookie (infralex-consent) to remember whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies. It records only your choice, the version of the choice and when it was made, and contains no other information about you. It expires six months after you make your choice, after which we ask you again.

If the website is temporarily operated in private-preview mode and you enter the access password, InfraLex sets a private-preview access cookie (infralex-preview-access) to remember that you have done so.

Analytics cookies (only with your consent)

If, and only if, you select “Accept analytics”, InfraLex loads Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google, which sets the following first-party cookies on the infralex.co domain:

• _ga — distinguishes browsers using a randomly generated identifier. Expires six months after your most recent visit.
• _ga_CC4TFN45LH — maintains session state for InfraLex’s analytics property. Expires six months after your most recent visit.

Google’s default lifetime for these cookies is two years; InfraLex shortens it to six months. Because Google Analytics renews these cookies on each visit, they expire six months after your most recent visit, unless you withdraw consent or delete them sooner. Separately, event-level and user-level data in Google Analytics is retained for two months under the retention setting InfraLex has configured, after which Google deletes it; aggregated reports that do not identify individual visitors may be retained for longer. Neither of these is the same as the lifetime of your cookie preference, which expires six months after you make your choice and is not renewed by later visits. Your Choices

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies, with equally prominent options to accept or reject them. Nothing is selected in advance. No analytics script is loaded, and no data is sent to Google, before you accept. If you reject analytics cookies, or do not make a choice, analytics stays off.

You can change your choice at any time through “Cookie settings” in the website footer. If you withdraw your consent, InfraLex stops analytics collection, deletes the analytics cookies listed above from your browser, and reloads the page without Google Analytics. Withdrawal does not affect analytics data already collected while your consent was in place. Your choice is remembered for six months, or until we materially change how we use cookies, after which we ask you again. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings; blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent you from signing in.

What InfraLex Does Not Use

InfraLex does not use advertising or marketing cookies, does not use Google Analytics’ advertising features, Google signals or advertising personalization, and does not use any analytics or third-party tracking technology on the public website other than Google Analytics as described above, and only with your consent.

Future Changes

If InfraLex introduces features that require additional cookies — for example, in connection with payment processing once paid checkout becomes available — this notice will be updated in advance to describe them accurately, and, where applicable law requires it, consent will be requested before such cookies are used.
