HH the Amir issued Law No. 9 of 2026, amending Law No. 14 of 2004 (the Labour Law), published in the Official Gazette on 25 June 2026. The amendments cover recruitment-office licensing, restore the non-compete duration to two years, introduce a vocational-certification requirement for designated professions, exclude part-time/freelance work from the Law's scope pending separate rules, mandate joint employer-employee committees for firms with 100 or more staff, and strengthen strike, dispute-resolution, and wage-protection enforcement.

Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) awarded contracts worth more than QAR 2.2 billion (~US$605 million) to expand and reinforce the electricity transmission network in western Qatar, integrating the 2GW Dukhan Solar PV Project — Qatar's largest-ever solar project — into the national grid ahead of its targeted 2029 connection. Contractors awarded include Voltage Engineering, Larsen & Toubro, LS Cable, and the Best & Betas consortium, covering substation construction/upgrades and new underground and overhead transmission lines.

Cabinet Decision No. 21 of 2026, published in Official Gazette Issue No. 9 of 2026, amends Council of Ministers Decision No. 28 of 2020 on non-Qatari ownership and usufruct rights in designated real estate zones, adding the Simaisma Resort and Beach Project — developed by Qatari Diar and led by the Ministry of Municipality — as area No. 70 on the list of zones open to foreign property ownership. The decision entered into force upon Official Gazette publication.
