Programme
High Speed 2 (HS2)
Major UK government-funded high-speed rail programme delivering the core London–Birmingham route following cancellation of the former Phase Two scope. HS2 is currently under construction and undergoing a major programme reset addressing cost, schedule, governance and contracting arrangements. The programme comprises multiple stations, tunnels, viaducts, railway systems, depots and rolling-stock packages. HS2 Ltd's own May 2026 six-monthly Parliamentary report (corroborated by the National Audit Office, June 2026) confirms total programme cost is now £87.7bn-£102.7bn, with Old Oak Common-Curzon Street opening pushed to 2036-2039 and the full Euston-Curzon Street route to 2040-2043 — forecasts, not achieved milestones as of this cut-off. Euston Delivery Company Limited was established April 2026 as the single directing mind for the Euston station scope specifically (a newly-formed HS2 Ltd delivery vehicle, not a rename of HS2 Ltd itself, and not a new Infrastructure record — captured here as editorial context on the same HS2 Programme record).

- Scale / Scope
- Major UK high-speed rail programme delivering approximately 140 miles of new railway infrastructure between London and Birmingham, including Euston, Old Oak Common, Birmingham Interchange and Birmingham Curzon Street, together with tunnels, viaducts, rail systems, depots and rolling stock. Euston station scope: £3.8bn spent to date, a further £4.1bn anticipated — deliberately kept disaggregated from the wider £87.7-102.7bn programme figure rather than collapsed into one Value field, consistent with the range-preservation discipline applied throughout this enrichment.
