Kenya is advancing a two-phase upgrade of the Rironi–Nakuru–Mau Summit and Nairobi–Maai Mahiu road corridors through privately financed, toll-backed arrangements. The current structure replaces the earlier Vinci-led PPP and divides delivery between a CRBC/NSSF-backed first phase and a Shandong Hi-Speed-led second phase. Current partners were identified in 2025 and project launch/construction commencement was reported on 28 November 2025. Reported aggregate value of approximately USD 1.5 billion and a private capital structure of approximately 75% debt / 25% equity with toll recovery remain qualified pending an official project profile.

Current reporting describes an approximately 139 km first phase and a second corridor phase; final route-by-route technical scope should be taken from executed project documents once officially published.
