Law & Regulation
Civil Code
Kuwait's general Civil Code, replacing the Ottoman Majallah, codified January 1981. Contains, among its broader general-civil-law content, the current possessory mortgage provisions governing security over property. Narrower commercial-pledge provisions (e.g., pledges of partnership interests, valid upon registration in the commercial register) are separately found in the Commercial Code (Law 68/1980, not itself a standalone InfraLex record). No modern consolidated secured-transactions/movable-collateral statute exists in Kuwait as of this record's last-verified date.
