21.7km electrified metro line from Downtown Alexandria to Abu Qir, 20 stations (6 ground + 14 elevated), delivered by an Orascom Construction / Colas Rail EPC consortium under a 2023 contract with the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT). As of the 30 September 2026 research cut-off, an AIIB project-monitoring report dated March 2026 assigned a red flag in relation to construction-progress delay (this is the report's publication month, not an asserted delay-onset date). Rolling stock (21 trains/189 cars) is being manufactured by the National Egyptian Railway Industries Company (NERIC), reported approximately 14% complete.
