Law & Regulation
Competition Law
Egypt's competition/antitrust law, enforced by the Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA). Amended by Law 175/2022, introducing a pre-closing (ex-ante) merger-control regime effective 1 June 2024, replacing the former ex-post notification system. A further amendment bill was approved by the Egyptian Parliament on 24 April 2026 (expanding ECA independence, raising merger-control thresholds, and increasing sanctions) but had not been promulgated or brought into force as of the 30 September 2026 research cut-off — see the related Development record; this law's own `status`/`lastAmendedDate` reflect only the enacted 175/2022 amendment.
