Law & Regulation
Law No. 196 of 2017 Issuing the Law for Gas Market Activities Regulation
Egypt's principal statutory framework for the regulation of downstream and midstream natural-gas market activities, including gas shipping, transmission, distribution, storage, LNG regasification, supply and trading. The law established the regulatory framework for licensing, regulated access to gas infrastructure and greater private-sector participation, supporting the progressive liberalisation of Egypt's gas market. It is particularly relevant to gas pipelines, transmission and distribution networks, LNG infrastructure and other regulated gas-market facilities.
